Right now we’re on a reading kick about how our economy is transforming in little pockets all over the place. Here are a few picks:

  • How’s the business landscape changing? Read ACCELERATE! by one of our favourites, John P. Kotter, published by the Harvard Business Review.
  • Think you can have your cake and eat it too? So does Patagonia’s new CEO, who describes how they’ve tripled their products without selling their soul in this FastCompany blog post.
  • Thinking of introducing employee equity into your business – becoming an employee-owned enterprise? This research report by the Cass Business School looks into the performance and resilience of these forms.

or TLCs are groups of people who explore specific topics using peer learning. At SPARK, we establish and facilitate TLCs from time to time.

Our web-based TLC sessions are loosely structured and tend to be fast-paced and dynamic. It helps that we keep these TLCs small – usually 6 – 10 participants – with a diverse, international, and eclectic group make-up. Each TLC meets online half a dozen times over several months, with some reading and communicating in between sessions.

There is never a cost associated with participating in one of our TLCs. Running TLCs allows us to help leaders run terrific organizations that we believe in. At the same time, we get to learn about challenges, best practices, and new strategies within some of our favourite organizations, which keeps us on the cutting edge and enriches what we have to offer all of our clients.

Membership is by invitation only, but please let us know if you would like to be considered for future TLCs, or if you have a topic you’d like to see explored.
